But they have a high cost, require technical skills, are large in volume, and are complex to maintain.

1. Clarify your processing requirements

2. Understand the size range that different tapping tools can handle

Ensure that their processing capacity meets the size requirements of your workpiece, such as the required diameter and length of the processed materials.

For the aperture size, consider whether it is a through hole or a blind hole, as well as the processing difficulty and precision requirements corresponding to different apertures.

3. Understand the tapping range of these tools

Select according to the actual size range of the threads to be tapped and make sure the selected tool can cover it. Usually, the range for some tools is M3 - M12 (metric threads).

4. Precision and stability

For high-precision thread processing requirements, choose a tool with higher processing precision and stability. This can ensure the production of precision threads that meet the requirements and reduce the generation of defective products.

5. Degree of automation

Select according to the production requirements and the level of automation requirements. A fully automatic tapping tool can boost production efficiency and lessen the workload for operators. However, a manual or semi-automatic tool might be better for small batches or specific processing needs.
